This course is self-paced and on demand. You can go through the materials and complete assignments at your own pace. There is no instructor or peer interaction in this course.
Character and plot are intertwinedâafter all, plot is what happens to the characters. If the audience does not care about the characters, the plot will falter. Audiences may be shocked or surprised by plots, but they care about characters. So authentic emotional conflict evolves from characters trying to deal with their circumstances. The character arc is the growth of the main character as he or she attempts to reconcile with the conflict of the plot.
But before we can understand the course of a characterâs progress (or regress), we have to know who that character is. In this workshop, you will cover how to naturally develop characters and story as a single unit so that your audience connects on a deep emotional level. By the end of this workshop, you will have a completed first act of your scriptâor a more polished one if you have already started your scriptâ and have the tools you need to complete your screenplay.
