​​There are two forms of navigation in each course:​

1. Lessons: Every course has a menu/outline situated to the left of the content area. Click it to jump directly to a specific section.
2. Next and previous buttons: Each course has “Next” and “Previous” buttons situated just above the content area. Each button will allow you to move forward and backward through the course pages.

Webinars – Writer's Digest Webinars are conducted live on Zoom, with a Q&A with the instructor. A recorded version of the webinar is sent to registered attendees post-live event for additional viewing for one year. 60 minutes - 3 hours. 

Boot Camps – Writer’s Digest boot camps are conducted by literary agencies. Boot Camps include an OnDemand Tutorial, agent Q&A chat to ask questions in real time, a set due date for materials to be submitted to literary agents, and a deadline for agents to return feedback.  

Virtual Conferences – Writer's Digest Virtual Conferences are 4-7 one-hour sessions which take place over 1 - 3 days. All sessions are live over Zoom on a set day/time and include a video presentation followed by a Q&A with the instructor. All sessions are recorded and provided post virtual conference for OnDemand access for one year. The virtual conferences also include the option to submit a query or material for review by a literary agent as well as several digital bonus items like Writer’s Digest Magazine, Digital Guides, and OnDemand Webinars.  

Guided Courses – Writer's Digest offers over 70 courses on various writing topics like writing short stories, copyediting, novel writing, memoirs, freelancing, submission coaching, screenwriting, etc. Courses are a hybrid of OnDemand course material, which may include written and/or video lectures, with due dates for written submissions and personalized feedback from the instructor. Students will also have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss lessons with their instructor and fellow students in the course community. Course access expires 30 days after the end of the session. 

Self-Paced Courses – The Writer’s Digest Self-Paced Courses are fully OnDemand courses on various topics. The material was created by an instructor, but instructor access is not included with these courses. You will not receive feedback on assignments. You may review the lessons and exercises on your own schedule, and access does not expire.

All instructor-led courses have specific start and end dates during which you can interact with the instructor and fellow students, submit assignments and receive feedback. You cannot access any course until the start date. You will choose which session you want to enroll in by selecting the start and end dates prior to enrollment when there is more than one session available. After the end date of your course, there will be a 30-day period of read-only access when you can still view all course materials.

Any self-paced (or OnDemand courses) do not have start and end dates. These courses are available immediately after purchase and you will have access to go through the course at your own pace.

Your online courses are available around the clock, which means that you can sign in at any time, day or night, and take your course.

Start any course you have access to and it will be added to the “My Courses” section. From here you can resume the course at any time.

There is no limit to the number of courses that can be taken at any given time.

To ask your instructor a public question, add a comment or make a post in the community discussion area, and your instructor will be notified.

For private questions, send a message in the community discussion area by clicking on your instructor's name, then the small arrow on the top right of their profile. This will begin a private conversation between the two of you.

Courses that include downloadable resources will have a link at the top of the relevant page. Simply click on the arrow at the top of the page and select which file you would like to download.

All courses include a community discussion area where you'll be able to interact with your instructor and fellow students. This is also where you will receive feedback on your writing assignments. You can access this area by clicking on the relevant "community" tab in your library, or by following the link on the course dashboard.

There is a link on all sign-in forms to help you recover your password. Just choose "Log In" in the top right corner of the browser, click the "forgot password?" button, and follow the on-screen instructions. You will then receive an email with further instructions to reset your password.

From your dashboard (once you're signed in), click to expand the droplist in the upper right corner next to your name. Click on Account and you'll be taken to an account management page. Enter your current password, the new email address that you would like associated with your account, and click Update. You will then use this new email address for future log ins.

Enter the new credit card details that should be associated with your account and click Update Credit Card. This info will be used for subscription renewals in the future.

Use the Click Here to Change Your Password button, enter your current password, and enter/confirm your new password. Click Change Password. You will then use this new password for future log ins.

Credit cards can become inactive for a number of reasons, including card expiration, inactivation, etc. If you are aware that the credit card we have on file is out of date or no longer valid please update your credit card details. To update, sign in and click Account from your dashboard so you're redirected to the account management page. From here you can enter your new credit card information. Be sure to save!

Yes, an internet connection is required to log in and view your online course. All courses offer a range of multimedia features, and we recommend that you have a good broadband or network connection for the optimal experience.

Our school was built to work on all iPads and tablets. Layouts, scrolling or displays may vary depending on the device you have.

We recommend when having problems with audio to check your internet connection, reset your internet connection if necessary, clear your cache, and update your browser or try another browser. Additionally, check your speaker/headphone connection and your audio system preferences.
