It may not sound as sexy as ripping out a first draft or typing The End on your memoir or essay, but revision is an essential part of the writing process.

And how we think about and develop our own revision process is the key to writing a publishable piece.

It can also be creative, satisfying, and efficient.

Led by the award-winning author of four books, hundreds of magazine articles, and blog posts, and the host of the Simply Write w/Polly Campbell podcast, Polly Campbell will explain what revision entails and how to create a detailed, specific process that helps you elevate your work and feel creative doing it. Revision is writing, and whether you’re just beginning work on your novel or finishing up an essay you’ll be proud to share, Polly will share her love of revising (seriously, it’s her favorite part of writing) with you and help you create your best work. Work that agents and readers will love.

Most sessions include both a brief recorded video and a written lecture detailing the session’s topic. When applicable, sessions will include insights from other writers talking about their revision process. At the end of each session, participants will have a chance to revise an original piece and submit it to the instructor for feedback on their approach, or in some cases, take on a writing exercise that will help writers apply and practice the information provided in the session. The author guiding this course will apply feedback on homework assignments.
